Demand Planning Manager

An automotive industry client based in Birmingham requires an experienced Demand Planning professional to develop and manage all forecasting processes and be an integral part of their constantly evolving S&OP process cycle. This is a key Supply Chain role within the company and my client requires a candidate that has experience of Demand Planning management, but also of working within or developing S&OP processes.

The Role

  • To develop and manage the existing forecasting package which interfaces to the production and supply systems
  • Daily management of the base forecast achieving all required Demand Planning KPI targets
  • Constant interaction with the Sales & Marketing teams to identify all key demand change drivers, notably promotional activity, seasonal demand models and product portfolio changes (new SKUs and delist management)
  • Driving of the S&OP process through hosting regular review meetings at various levels i.e. the high level summary S&OP review and also the detailed weekly meetings with Supply Planners, Production Planners and Sales/Marketing  
  • Detailed analysis of high variance products with the appropriate remedial actions taken
  • Collaboration with external suppliers providing key forecasting data
  • Daily review of forecast versus actual demand with Supply Planning team to consistently monitor the top high variance products and resolve accordingly

Candidate Required

  • Experienced Demand Planning professional who has used external forecasting packages in previous role/s
  • The candidate must have a good knowledge of statistical forecasting and the various types of forecast model that can be applied to different products
  • S&OP process experience desirable
  • Ability to work on own initiative, this is an independent role within the company reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager
  • Ability to work well with colleagues with an empathetic but inquisitive nature 
  • Hosting of Supply Chain meetings desirable although not absolutely essential
  • Presentation skills essential with the ability to present accordingly to different audiences (high level management and to the whole Supply Chain team)

This is a key role at an exciting time in the company's development. Change management is a key requirement currently which is why the client must develop it's whole S&OP process to constantly deal with these changes and challenges.
